Good morning! And TGIF! I don’t know about all of you, but I’m sooo ready for the weekend! Saturday mornings are my mornings to sleep in.  The only morning throughout the week where I don’t have to wake up to the sound of an alarm or the vibration of my apple watch which actually has a better shot of getting me up because my hearing is shot and I’m next to impossible to wake up.  We are supposed to get a boat load of rain today and tomorrow, but at this point as long as it warms up, I honestly don’t care what we get, but whatever it is, I’m hoping it stops by Sunday because I’d love to get an awesome hike in after I train with Cyril.

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve definitely heard me mention my trainer, Cyril Morris, who I also consider to be my dear friend and in many ways a mentor.  Before I met Cyril, I really didn’t understand all that a great trainer has to offer.

Let’s face it, there are a million trainers out there and many have great bodies, so naturally you assume they know what they’re doing, but it’s equally as important to your success, to find a trainer who is a good fit for you, one who understands your needs better than you do.

I met Cyril in September of 2015 when I began taking classes at Orange Theory.  Some people instantly leave an impression on me, and Cyril was one of those people, so I began taking his classes, and ONLY his classes at Orange because I instantly felt as though I was in good hands, but more so, I felt that Cyril had a way of taking me out of my comfort zone.. he made me want to do my best, and give it all I could.  That still holds true today, but over the course of the last year or so, Cyril has been faced with a far greater challenge than simply trying to turn my body into Torrie Wilson’s.. he’s had to pry open my mind with a crowbar, and never give up on me.

A lot of people have questioned why I can’t simply take what Cyril has taught me and do the same exercises at home or at a regular gym and here’s why.. I’m not the type of person who longs for the gym.  My heart is completely content without it.  I recognize all the benefits fitness has to offer, and those are all the reasons I put myself through, what I consider to be a form of torture, but if not for Cyril, I would have stopped walking through gym doors shortly after I started.  I’ve learned so much about consistency, discipline, religion, determination, focus, strength, and what it means to truly get your mind right.  I always joke when I introduce Cyril to my family and friends and refer to him as my trainer, therapist, plastic surgeon, priest, etc. because in many ways he is a tad mix of all those things.

Anyone can pass a certification to become a trainer, even me, but not everyone can get inside your head like Cyril does, and make you want to be a better person all around.  Cyril works your body, your mind, and your heart, and he will not back down or coddle you.. not because his time is extremely valuable and he is overbooked with a list of high profile athletes, but because he truly cares about you and wants you to succeed, sometimes more than you do, for your own peace of mind and happiness.. he’s already where he needs to be, he wants you to reach your potential, so that you too, can achieve optimal results.

Having said all of that, I think there are a lot of people who are struggling because most people who walk into a gym, are not experienced enough to train themselves.  If I injure myself badly enough, I’m going to see a doctor, I’m not going to attempt surgery on myself, that would be insane amongst other things.. And that leads me to another topic.. I see more people get injured, trying to train themselves, and they end up worse off then when they set out to simply better themselves.

Wouldn’t you rather use your time wisely to get actual results?? We spend so much money on beautiful clothes, skincare, makeup, hair color, spray tans, and nails, to name a few.. but we are always reluctant to spend money on a good trainer or gym.  If you can’t afford a trainer then I would recommend you join a gym like Orange Theory where you reap the benefits of personal training in a group setting which also makes it fun and gives you an opportunity to meet like minded people who are interested in a healthier lifestyle or perhaps your local Crossfit gym is the right fit for you, they too operate in a group setting, so you have access to a trainer to ensure you are performing the movement correctly without injuring yourself.

Now go ponder all of this over this cozy cup of coffee loaded with lots of health benefits.  This is my favorite cup of the day.  It’s the first one I drink in the morning.. of course mine is decaf, but caffeine works well too.. Ha! The coconut oil is a great way to get your MCT, cinnamon helps with inflammation, and is loaded with antioxidants, not to mention the collagen helps to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and stretch marks, and it helps the regrowth of joint tissue, helps to prevent bone loss, boosts your metabolism, and so much more, so put down that weight, and go reach for your stick blender, and get ready for a yummy, healthy, cup of Joe!

Whipped Cinnamon Bullet Proof Coffee

Serves 1


  • 2 tablespoons collagen (I used Great Lakes)
  • 1 cup of coffee
  • 2 drops doterra cinnamon oil
  • 6 drops stevia
  • 3 tablespoon coconut milk or nutpods (any flavor)
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil
  • dash of nutmeg for garnish


  • Combine all of the ingredients in a mug
  • Using a stick blender whip the coffee until it turns frothy (I use this one by Cuisine Art)
  • Sprinkle the top with nutmeg
