TGIF!!! I’m sooo excited because it’s supposed to warm up in Jersey this weekend! Hallelujah! The cold has officially hit my last nerve.  Anyway, this weekend should be interesting.. hopefully, in a good way because I’m babysitting my niece for the very first time on Saturday night.  Isn’t she cute?? (she’s the one without the fur) And she turned 8 months yesterday.. where does the time go??!! Seems like just yesterday my sister was experiencing one of the worst labors in history while the rest of us where anxiously awaiting this sunny side up bundle of joy to enter into this world.. And next to her is Diesel, the most handsome Bugg (with 2 g’s) in the world.. And before you ask, because EVERYONE does.. he’s a 1/2 pug 1/2 boston terrier! Ha!

Now lets get back to the babysitting part.. For most of you, that might seem like a cake walk, but not so much for me.  I have absolutely no baby experience.  Men have more experience than me when it comes to taking care of children.  Let me set the stage for you.. When my niece was 3 weeks old, she developed a tiny blister on her lip and I congratulated her on her first tooth coming in.. She has not looked at me the same ever since.  So if that doesn’t put things into perspective for you, I’m not sure what will.

Here’s how I’m hoping the night is going to go.. Zia feeds the Queen (that would be Miss Cali) around 5:30, Zia runs a bath for the Queen around 6:30, and the Queen retires to bed at 7:15, only to sleep through the remainder of the evening or at the very least until her loving parents return home.. No excessive diaper changing because lord knows, I’ve only changed one diaper once in my life and “smooth” would not be the adjective that I would use to describe that incident.  Notice I used the word incident, not experience?? There was a reason for that.. It was sort of like that scene in Baby Boom when Diane Keaton finally gives up and duct tapes the diaper to the child..

You see.. some women are natural born care takers.  They love everything about babies and somehow they innately know just what to do.. I am not one of those women and because I don’t have children of my own.. well, none that don’t have tails any way, I’m at a complete loss! Anything I know, I’ve learned in the last eight months from my sister, and that isn’t much.

Miss Cali seems to know where everyone fits and what their role is, but she hasn’t quite figured out what my place is just yet.  I think, she thinks.. I look like her mommie, I smell like her mommie, and I might even sound a little like her mommie (although my sister does not sound like the nanny), but I’m NOT her mommie, and the second this hits her.. she lets out a heartbreaking wail as if I’ve hung her upside down by her big toe.. (she’s a total drama queen)

But on a more serious note, I love this half pint more than anything in this world.  Every time I see even so much as a picture of her, my heart fills with so much love, I feel like it’s going to explode.. And before you ask because almost everyone does.. Cali made me want children for approximately 3 minutes before I came back to my senses.. motherhood is not the role I was intended to take on.  I have always known that, but I couldn’t be more thrilled with being Cali’s aunt and godmother and there is so much I want to show her and give to her throughout her life.

And now that we are sooo off topic, lets talk a little bit about this delicious green juice which is packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.. it’s actually a juice my trainer introduced me too.  There’s a little cafe across the street from the gym we work out at and they make this juice.  I always try to grab one after my workout because I love it and it just makes me feel sooo good.  I wanted to replicate it, so I could have it any time at home and I think I’ve done a great job! Out of all the juices I’ve done regardless of the reason, whether I’m trying to cure something or not, this is my absolute favorite and definitely the one I drink the most.  Cheers!

Super Antioxidant Green Juice

  • 4 stalks celery
